6. Publication Ethics Policies
6.1. Plagiarism
All submitted manuscripts are screened using the CopyCatch plagiarism detection software prior to the peer-review process. The plagiarism check is conducted within 24 hours of submission to ensure the originality and authenticity of the content.
The acceptable similarity index threshold is below 25%, excluding references, tables, figures, and standard methodological text. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to authors for revision or may be rejected outright, depending on the degree and nature of overlap. Any paper found to contain plagiarized, fabricated, or duplicated material after publication will be retracted or corrected in accordance with the COPE Retraction Guidelines. These procedures ensure that JELR upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics consistent with the COPE Core Practices.
6.2. Authorship
Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.
Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged under “Acknowledgments.”
6.3. Conflicts of Interest
All authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any potential personal, financial, or institutional conflicts of interest that could affect the research or editorial process.
6.4. AI-Generated Content
Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT or similar systems) cannot be listed as authors.
If used for text editing, summarization, or data analysis, the following must be declared:
- The name and version of the AI tool used;
- The input and output generated;
- A confirmation of human oversight and responsibility.
Failure to disclose AI use may result in rejection or retraction.
6.5. Retraction and Correction Policy
Articles may be retracted for proven cases of misconduct, plagiarism, data fabrication, significant errors, or undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- Retraction notices will be linked to the original article and remain accessible.
- Corrections (Errata) will be published for minor errors not affecting the study’s conclusions.
6.6. Misconduct Handling
All allegations of ethical misconduct are addressed according to COPE flowcharts.
Investigations will be conducted confidentially, fairly, and with documented outcomes.

Authors are encouraged to make their data, materials, and analysis methods openly available whenever possible, or to clearly state how the data can be accessed upon request.
Authors must include a Data Availability Statement (DAS) in their manuscripts describing the availability or restriction of the data supporting their findings.
