LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES OF PATANGA GRASSHOPPER (Patanga succincta) FARMER GROUPS : A CASE STUDY OF BAN TAI KHONG, SURIN PROVINCE
Abstract
This study aims to 1) examine logistics and supply chain management of Patanga grasshopper farmer groups 2) analyse internal and external factors influencing the group’s operations and 3) propose strategic approaches to enhance logistics and supply chain management efficiency and sustainability. A descriptive research design was employed, incorporating SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix as strategic tools, with data collected from 70 households and analysed through descriptive statistics, SWOT analysis, and the TOWS matrix. The findings reveal that the farmer group possesses strong advantages in low production costs and high levels of internal collaboration. However, significant limitations remain in technology adoption and market access, leading to continued reliance on intermediaries. Meanwhile, opportunities from digital market expansion and increasing demand for alternative protein provide potential for development. Key strategic approaches include developing online distribution channels, enhancing product value, improving managerial and technological capabilities, and strengthening group collaboration. These strategies play a crucial role in enhancing supply chain performance and achieving sustainable competitiveness at the community level.
