Abstract

The lack of knowledge and understanding about age-appropriate nutrition leads children and adolescents to make inappropriate food choices, while traditional learning media lack engagement and interactivity. Therefore, this research developed an AR card game to promote interactive learning about essential nutrients for different age groups. The game uses AR technology to allow players to view 3D models of food ingredients. Players can scan ingredient cards to select age-appropriate consumption and accumulate points. The game was developed using Unity and Vuforia Engine, supporting up to 8 players in turn-based mode, with a Face Manager system displaying three levels of character expressions to reflect food selection results in real-time. The sample group consisted of 25 lower secondary school students. The results showed that knowledge scores significantly increased from 3.24 to 3.92, an increase of 0.68 points, and students had the highest satisfaction level of 4.75 out of 5, particularly in content understanding and game engagement. In conclusion, this AR card game is effective in promoting nutritional learning, enhancing motivation, and developing analytical thinking skills through engaging and interactive gameplay.
