Quality (Quartile) of Internationally Published Research: Chulabhorn International College of Medicine, Thammasat University, Thailand

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the quality of research publications in international journals by faculty members of the Chulabhorn International College of Medicine, Thammasat University, during the fiscal years 2020 - 2024. Data were collected from the Scopus database, and the quality of journals was evaluated according to Quartile (Q) rankings based on the SJR index. The publication data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results indicated that the average number of publications in Q1 journals was 39, which exceeded Q2 by 67.2%, Q3 by 40.5%, and Q4 by 14.9%. Publications in Q2 averaged 24.6, which were lower than Q1 by 147.7%, higher than Q3 by 59.8%, and higher than Q4 by 21.9%. Q3 publications averaged 15.8, which were lower than Q1 by 246.8%, lower than Q2 by 167.1%, and higher than Q4 by 36.7%. Q4 publications were the lowest, averaging 5.8, which were lower than Q1 by 672.4%, lower than Q2 by 455.2%, and lower than Q3 by 272.4%. Based on these findings, the results can be used as a guideline for formulating policies to support research funding and enhance faculty potential, aiming to improve research quality toward international standards. Moreover, it is recommended to promote research collaboration networks to increase opportunities for developing higher-quality research outcomes in the future.
