The Development of Data Visualization Reports to Manage Projects and Budgets using Microsoft Power BI

Abstract

The aim of this research is to provide a report and evaluate efficiency and satisfaction. Preparation of reports showcasing the graphical representation of project management and financial information inside the Computer Science Department, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University. The study employs Microsoft Power BI software to consolidate reports on the allocation of funds in project organization and activities. These reports assist in the strategic planning and project management of the Faculty of Science, ensuring that initiatives are in keeping with the department's vision, mission, and development plan. These data are essential for efficient budget management, as they encompass information from the previous five years, covering fiscal years 2018 to 2022. The research findings demonstrate that utilizing Microsoft Power BI to generate multi-dimensional reports displaying project management and budget data has proven to be exceedingly efficient. Data visualization accommodates various viewpoints, enabling quick understanding and user-friendliness. The software facilitates rapid data retrieval and offers a user-friendly interface, guaranteeing up-to-date and uninterrupted data storage. Experts conducted an evaluation that resulted in outstanding ratings (mean = 4.76, SD = 0.33), greatly contributing to the improvement of knowledge for preparing reports for managerial presentations.
