A Discriminant Analysis of Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University’s Undergraduate Students Who did not Graduate on Time

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to (1) study non-graduating and discriminant variables of Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University’s undergraduate students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation (2) study the best variables to classify non-graduating students and create the discriminant equation of Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University’s undergraduate students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation.

The samples were 317 students of year 5 undergraduates in regular program (academic year 2017) and year 4 undergraduates (academic year 2018) who graduated on time and another 181 undergraduate students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation, 498 students of the total. The research tool was questionnaire. Data analysis statistics were mean, standard deviation and discriminant analysis. The results were as follows.

          1) The discriminant variables of undergraduate students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation were found that students who graduated on time had an awareness of discriminant variables at moderate level (= 2.69). The aspects with the highest level of awareness were instructors (= 2.88), an institution (= 2.71) and a student (= 2.59) respectively. Students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation had an awareness of discriminant variables at moderate level (= 3.25). The aspects with the highest level of awareness were a student (= 3.27), instructors (= 3.24), and an institution (= 3.23) respectively.

          2) The best two variables to classify students who did not graduate on time requirements for graduation were student factor and institution factor, which could be written as discriminant equations in the form of raw data and standard score as the following.
