Analysis of International Publications of Faculty Members of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, from 2020 to 2024 using by SciVal

Abstract

This study aims to analyze international research publications by faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, from 2020 to 2024, as indexed in the Scopus database. A total of 1,237 articles were examined using SciVal analytics. The findings revealed that journal articles accounted for the largest publication type (84.93%). The Engineering field produced the highest number of publications, totaling 615 articles, while Engineering and Applied Science Research was the journal with the most publications, with 53 articles. Regarding journal quality, 1,113 articles were published in journals ranked by Journal Quartile, with 624 articles (56.06%) in Q1 journals. National collaboration was predominant, with 60 publications (53.10%), while Japan was the most frequent international partner, with 7 publications. Among institutional collaborations, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan co-authored the most papers, with 111 publications. In total, 1,078 papers were cited, and the research output showed the highest alignment with "SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all," accounting for 216 publications. These results highlight the strong research capacity of the Faculty of Engineering and provide evidence-based insights for policy development, research performance monitoring, and strategic planning. The study supports the faculty’s mission to advance toward becoming a world-class engineering school driven by impactful and internationally recognized research and innovation.
