Development of the Science and Technology Division Website, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Prince of Songkla University

Abstract

This research aims to 1) Survey the information that users need for the development of the website of the Science and Technology Division, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Prince of Songkla University; 2) Evaluate the website’s quality; and 3) Assess user satisfaction. The concept behind this research is to develop a website using a simple program that allows laboratory scientists to update important information regularly. The research tools included the developed website, questionnaires, a website quality assessment form, and a user satisfaction assessment form. The target group consisted of 50 specific laboratory service users and 5 experts in website design and development. The statistical methods used were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings revealed that 1) the essential information users required on the website included a list of scientific instruments, an equipment reservation system, laboratory regulations and announcements, laboratory safety guidelines, and other relevant information about the division. The website was successfully developed using Google Sites and is accessible at https://sites.google.com/psu.ac.th/agro-sciencetech. 2) The website quality evaluation showed an overall high level of quality (x̄ = 4.27, S.D. = 0.56). The highest-rated aspects were ease of use, system responsiveness, and accuracy of internal data links (x̄ = 4.60, S.D. = 0.55). 3) The user satisfaction assessment indicated a high level of satisfaction with the website's content quality (x̄ = 4.20, S.D. = 0.68) and a similarly high level of satisfaction with the website's design and layout (x̄ = 4.37, S.D. = 0.65).
