Factors Affecting the Knowledge Transfer Efficiency of Catalog Librarians in Academic Libraries

This quantitative research aimed to investigate factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge transfer by catalog librarians in academic libraries. A purposive sample of 110 catalog librarians from 44 academic libraries participated. Data was collected by online questionnaire with closed-ended questions, which was tested for content validity and reliability. All items demonstrated content validity (IOC) values ranging from 0.67 to 1.00, and the reliability coefficient measured by Cronbach's alpha was 0.988. Data was analyzed by exploratory factor analysis (EFA) followed by structural equation modeling (SEM). Statistical significance was evaluated based on p-values at the significance levels of 0.001. Results showed that knowledge transfer factors directly affected knowledge transfer efficiency of catalog librarians, explaining 74% of variance (R² = 0.74). This construct comprised four components ranked by factor loadings: organization (0.849); process (0.834); relationship (0.808); and people (0.775). Competency factors had no direct effects on knowledge transfer efficiency but showed significant indirect effects through knowledge transfer factors, accounting for 65% of variance (R² = 0.65). The competency construct consisted of three components ranked by factor loadings: skills (0.937); knowledge (0.874); and traits (0.787).
