Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing migrant workers' access to public healthcare services in Thailand using a mixed-methods approach. The study integrates quantitative analysis, utilizing structured questionnaires, and qualitative analysis, through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The sample group includes migrant workers and healthcare personnel.

The findings indicate that legal constraints, economic factors, language barriers, and healthcare system inefficiencies significantly impact migrants' access to healthcare services. Legal restrictions and high medical expenses directly influence healthcare utilization, while language barriers and limited understanding of the healthcare system reduce migrants' confidence in seeking medical care. Additionally, workforce shortages and long waiting times in healthcare facilities contribute to service accessibility challenges.

Key recommendations include policy adjustments to improve healthcare accessibility for migrants, financial support measures, language and cultural adaptation tools, and enhanced healthcare infrastructure to accommodate migrant populations. This study provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by migrant workers and serves as a foundation for developing inclusive healthcare policies in the future.
