Abstract

In the digital era, technology plays a crucial role in the development of education and learning by enhancing access to knowledge and promoting lifelong learning. However, for technology to be utilized most effectively, it is essential to consider the relevant social context to ensure that learning meets the needs of both learners and society in a sustainable manner. This study aims to examine the integration of technology with the social context to foster sustainable learning by considering factors such as culture, the education system, government policies, and learner readiness. The research was conducted through document analysis and case studies. The findings indicate that the use of technology in learning development must align with the social context. This includes designing educational platforms that cater to the learning behaviors of students in different regions and utilizing digital media that is easily accessible while accounting for the diversity of learners. Additionally, integrating technology into learning processes should promote equity in knowledge access, digital skill development, and critical thinking to bridge educational gaps.
The study further highlights that government and community support are critical factors in developing sustainable learning approaches. Proper allocation of technological infrastructure, training for educators to effectively utilize technology, and curriculum development that encourages participatory learning are key elements that enable technology to serve as a driving force in education.
Therefore, integrating technology with the social context should be approached in a comprehensive and balanced manner, considering technical, social, cultural, and economic dimensions. This approach will help establish a holistic educational system that effectively meets the needs of 21st-century learners in a sustainable and efficient way.
