Factors Affecting the Decision to Choose a Career as an Airlines Staff of Northern University Students

Abstract

This study aims to study the factors affecting the decision to choose a career as an airlines staff of undergraduate students. It is quantitative research. The population and samples used for the study include undergraduate students of a university in the northern region by selecting a specific sample (Purposive Sampling) of 283 people. The tool is a questionnaire to analyze data with descriptive statistics about airlines staff career from various media. Including the airline's staffing policy. The results of the research found that the sample group opinions regarding external factors that affect the overall career choice of airline employees were at a moderate level. which has an average of 3.2791 when considering information perception, it was found that the perception of information through the airline's staffing policy.  The highest mean was an average of 4.0468, followed by perception of information through various media with an average of 3.4419, perception of information through classmates had an average of 3.3461 and knowing information through advisors had an average of 2.6364, divided into factors in each area, including knowing information through airline staffing policies. The factor that has the greatest effect on being interested in a career as an airline employee is income, followed by welfare, and perception of information through various media. The most important thing is the stability of the airline, followed by the reputation of the airline.  Perception of information through classmates, the most important thing is welfare, followed by the reputation of the airline.  Acknowledging information through advisors, the most is the advisor who provides information about being an airline employee, both advantages and disadvantages are good, second is promotion.
