Abstract

This article presents a new conceptual model for developing teachers’ competencies in the digital era, which serves as a critical framework to address technological transformations and the increasing complexity of educational systems in the 21st century. The model consists of three interrelated components. First, AI Literacy, which focuses on building in-depth understanding of artificial intelligence principles, algorithmic operations, data analysis, and methods of applying AI technology to instructional practices. Teachers are required to enhance their capacity to access, evaluate the quality of information, and employ AI systems as effective tools to support professional decision-making processes.

Second, AI-Integrated Pedagogical Skills encompass the development of technical abilities to design and integrate personalized instructional media, conduct precise assessments, and foster active learning through intelligent AI platforms. This component plays an essential role in reducing constraints related to time, resources, and disparities in access to knowledge. Third, Positive Digital Mindset & Professional Competency emphasizes cultivating an open attitude toward change, confidence in technological applications, and commitment to continuous self-improvement. This element enables teachers to adapt to emerging challenges and create new value within the education system sustainably.

In summary, this new conceptual model offers a comprehensive framework aimed at strengthening teachers’ knowledge, understanding, applied skills, and positive attitudes toward the use of AI. Its purpose is to enhance the effectiveness of instructional management, improve learners’ competencies, reduce educational inequalities, and support the Thai education system in effectively responding to the context of the digital society.
