Law Enforcement and the Authority of the SAO Chief Administrator During Chief Executive Vacancies

Abstract

                After the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) seized power. The 2014 Interim Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand was promulgated, resulting in the suspension of civil and political rights. Local government administration: Many sub-district administrative organizations have suspended the election of the sub-district administrative organization president. The National Council for Peace and Order therefore announced that the administration of the subdistrict administrative organizations shall be carried out by civil servants. That is, in the case where the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) president's term has expired and there is no Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) president, the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) secretary is appointed to act as the Subdistrict Administrative Organization president. Until 2019, the Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) had a Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) president who was directly elected by the people from then on until November 27, 2025. The Subdistrict Administrative Organization Mayor's term has expired again and is awaiting elections. The administration of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization shall be carried out by the Subdistrict Administrative Organization Secretary, who shall perform the duties of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization Mayor only as necessary and on a temporary basis.
