This academic article analyzes the roles of Anam Nikaya temples in Thailand in promoting morality, ethics, and community development. Drawing on academic literature, official Anam Nikaya sources, and public-sector information, the analysis shows that these temples perform functions beyond ritual practice and the preservation of Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist identity. Their contemporary social roles can be synthesized into six dimensions: (1) moral cultivation through compassion, gratitude, generosity, and the Bodhisattva ideal; (2) monastic education and lifelong learning; (3) public welfare and support for vulnerable groups; (4) cultural preservation and intercultural understanding; (5) environmental and public-space stewardship; and (6) network coordination among temples, schools, communities, government agencies, and civil society. The article argues that future development should move from event-based charity toward systematic community engagement with clear goals, indicators, outcome data, transparency, and meaningful youth participation. Such an approach can strengthen Anam Nikaya temples as spiritual centers, learning institutions, social-capital hubs, and long-term partners in sustainable community development.
