This study explores the intricate relationship between cultural heritage and identity among hill tribe communities in Northern Thailand. Facing external pressures from globalization, tourism, and government policies, these communities are adapting to preserve traditional practices while reshaping their cultural identities. Through ethnographic analysis, the research highlights how cultural expressions like language, art, craftsmanship, and ritual practices serve as dynamic frameworks for identity preservation amidst social change. Findings emphasize that these communities’ heritage is a vital resource, fostering resilience and unity as they navigate complex challenges. This research also reflects on the role of anthropologists in ensuring culturally sensitive representation, advocating for authentic depictions and sustainable cultural preservation strategies.
