This paper discusses the reform of social studies education in Thailand by integrating local wisdom and global citizenship, aiming to better equip students for the challenges of a rapidly globalizing world. It highlights the importance of preserving Thailand’s rich cultural traditions while promoting values of global responsibility, empathy, and active citizenship. The paper examines the role of local wisdom, such as Thai cultural practices and Buddhist teachings, in shaping students’ identities and their understanding of sustainable living. It also addresses the growing need for global citizenship education to prepare students for global issues such as climate change and migration. By incorporating both local and global perspectives, the paper proposes strategies for developing a curriculum that fosters critical thinking, cultural awareness, and global engagement. Ultimately, the integration of local wisdom with global citizenship is crucial for creating informed, responsible citizens who can navigate both their cultural heritage and global challenges.
