Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics for Authors
- Originality and Exclusivity: Authors must ensure that their submitted article is original and has not been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submissions should be exclusive to the Journal of Administrative Science.
- Compliance with Submission Criteria: Authors must adhere strictly to the journal's submission guidelines, including formatting and referencing requirements. Articles should meet the specified criteria to facilitate smooth processing and review.
- Adherence to Journal Format: Authors are responsible for formatting their articles according to the journal's guidelines. This includes complying with the specified format for manuscript preparation to ensure uniformity and quality in published articles.
- Research Ethics and Plagiarism: Authors must uphold research ethics by avoiding plagiarism and not presenting others' work as their own. The journal uses the CopyCat program on the Thaijo website to check for duplication, with a maximum allowed similarity value of 20%.
- Authorship and Contributions: Only individuals who have significantly contributed to the preparation of the article or the research should be listed as authors. Inclusion of individuals who did not contribute to the work will result in immediate withdrawal of the article.
- Proper Attribution and Copyright Compliance: Authors must properly cite all sources, including images and tables used in their articles. They must acknowledge sources to avoid copyright infringement. The responsibility for any legal issues arising from copyright violations lies solely with the authors.
- Accuracy and Relevance of References: Authors should ensure the accuracy and relevance of references, adhering to the journal's citation format. References should be cited only if they have been read and are essential to the article. Avoid citing excessive or irrelevant documents.
- Revisions and Timeliness: Authors must revise their articles based on feedback from evaluators and the editorial board within the specified timeframe. Failure to do so may result in delays or withdrawal of the article from publication.
- Funding and Conflict of Interest: Authors should disclose any funding sources that supported the research and any potential conflicts of interest. They must not present false or misleading information and should ensure the accuracy of the reported data.
- Citing Withdrawn Documents: Authors should avoid citing documents that have been withdrawn, except when referencing the retraction process. If such citations are necessary, they must clearly indicate that the cited document has been withdrawn.
Ethical Standards for Editors
- Adherence to Ethical Guidelines: Editors must ensure that the journal operates in accordance with ethical standards and policies as outlined by the Thai Citation Index Center (TCI) and other relevant bodies. This includes compliance with ethics as per the TCI announcement dated June 24, 2019.
- Monitoring Ethical Compliance: Editors are responsible for supervising and addressing any ethical violations by authors, such as plagiarism or self-plagiarism. The journal uses the CopyCat program on the Thaijo website to detect duplications, setting a maximum threshold of 20%. Editors must act appropriately if such violations are detected.
- Conflict of Interest and Article Handling: Editors must avoid conflicts of interest and ensure that their own articles, or those of the editorial team, are handled impartially. They must not be involved in reviewing or making decisions on articles in which they have a vested interest.
- Quality Control and Article Selection: Editors are tasked with overseeing the quality of articles submitted for publication. They must ensure that articles are selected based on thorough evaluation, focusing on clarity, consistency with the journal’s policies, and contribution to theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality regarding authors and reviewers during the evaluation process. The journal uses a double-blind peer review process to ensure that identities are protected.
- Plagiarism Detection: Editors must rigorously check for plagiarism using reliable programs, such as CopyCat on the Thaijo website, ensuring that plagiarism does not exceed 20%. If significant plagiarism is detected, the evaluation process should be halted, and the author must be contacted for clarification.
- Conflict of Interest Management: Editors must ensure that they have no conflicts of interest with authors or reviewers. They must uphold high standards of governance and impartiality in their editorial duties.
- Integrity of Published Content: Editors must not use content from submitted articles as their own work. They are responsible for ensuring that published articles are original and have not been plagiarized.
- Assessment of Research Validity: Editors should ensure that research published in the journal uses correct methodologies and produces reliable results. They are responsible for using these results as a guideline for publication decisions.
- Handling of Retractions: If an article is found to be inappropriately copied or falsified, the editor has the authority to retract the article, even if the author refuses to do so. This decision is at the editor's discretion to maintain the integrity of the journal.
- Editorial Team Management: Editors should consider the capabilities of the editorial team and assign tasks accordingly. This ensures that tasks are handled efficiently and by individuals suited to the job.
- Reference Quality Control: Editors must oversee the quality of references in the journal, ensuring that they are accurate and relevant. They should monitor and request references to prevent inaccuracies and inconsistencies.
-
Transparency in Charges: Editors are responsible for the transparent collection of Page Charges or Processing Fees. They must clearly announce the process, price, and terms and conditions of these charges to ensure transparency and fairness.
Ethical Standards for Article Reviewers
- Expertise and Relevance: Reviewers must only review articles within their area of expertise or qualifications. They should assess the relevance of the article to the field, the quality of analysis, and the significance of the research. Reviewers should avoid personal opinions not supported by data and should reject articles outside their area of expertise.
- Fairness and Objectivity: Reviewers must provide fair, unbiased, and
straightforward evaluations. They should ensure that their reviews are impartial, based
solely on the content and quality of the article, and submitted within the timeline
specified by the journal. - Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding the
content of the articles under review. They should not disclose any information about the articles to unrelated parties during or after the review process. - Conflict of Interest: If reviewers identify any potential conflicts of interest with the authors, they must inform the journal editor immediately and recuse themselves from evaluating the article to ensure an unbiased review.
- Title and Content Review: Reviewers should consider the appropriateness of
the article title for academic articles, suggesting corrections if necessary. For research
articles, only spelling and grammatical errors should be addressed, and title changes
should generally be avoided. - Originality of Work: Reviewers must not use any part of the submitted article
as their own work. They are responsible for ensuring that the article is original and not
previously published or plagiarized. - Detection of Plagiarism or Duplication: If reviewers find that any part of the
article resembles or duplicates other works, they must report this to the editor, providing
evidence of the duplication.
