Abstract

This research article aims to develop the process of making naturally dyed leaf pattern fabric to establish the identity of textiles in Kamphaeng Phet province, to Innovate a steam dyeing machine for the production of naturally dyed leaf pattern fabric, to transfer knowledge of the process of creating naturally dyed leaf pattern fabric to establish the identity of textiles in Kamphaeng Phet province, and to develop and design a diverse and aesthetically pleasing product line of naturally dyed leaf-patterned fabric. The research methodology is a mixed-methods approach, incorporating qualitative and action research. The study population comprises 15 people from the traditional fabric weaving group specializing in natural dyeing, located in Chai Mongkol Village, Khlong Nam Lai Subdistrict, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Data collection tools include surveys and interviews, and The collected data has been analyzed through content analysis.

The research findings reveal that the process of making naturally dyed leaf pattern fabric to establish the identity of textiles in Kamphaeng Phet province has yielded significant outcomes. The researchers successfully developed the process of making leaf-patterns fabric using natural dyes, employing both the Basic method and the Blanket method. Additionally, they enhanced the process by developing mordant agents to improve color transfer and the clarity of leaf patterns onto the fabric. Furthermore, the development of fabric dyeing using laterite powder aimed to create a distinctive identity for textiles in Kamphaeng Phet province. The research culminated in a comprehensive knowledge summary of the leaf-patterned
fabric-making process intended for dissemination to the target community.

The innovation in a steam dyeing machine for producing naturally dyed leaf patterned fabric demonstrated notable results. The researchers designed a steam dyeing machine that produces aesthetically pleasing patterns and is suitable for efficient fabric printing. The controlled temperature during the fabric dyeing ensures sharp and beautiful color transfer and patterns. The developed steam dyeing machine allows for the simultaneous steaming of 15 - 20 fabric pieces, contributing to cost reduction and increased fabric production.

The knowledge transfer of the leaf-patterned fabric-making process to the target community revealed positive results. The researchers successfully conveyed the knowledge to 15 people from the traditional fabric weaving group specializing in natural dyeing, located in Chai Mongkol Village, Khlong Nam Lai Subdistrict, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. The training participants' evaluation of knowledge, understanding, and satisfaction indicated the highest overall level (mean=4.75). Examining individual aspects, all criteria scored at the highest level. Specifically, participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge and understanding in preparing materials and equipment for leaf-patterned fabric making with natural dyes
(mean = 4.82). They also exhibited an understanding of the application of mordant agents (mean = 4.80), knowledge of the steps and basic method of leaf-patterned fabric making (mean = 4.78), knowledge of the steps and blanket methods of leaf-patterned fabric making (mean = 4.76), and knowledge of the steps and methods for cleaning and color fixing of fabrics (mean = 4.75). Overall, the training participants expressed the highest level of satisfaction (mean = 4.80). Evaluating specific aspects, all criteria were rated at the highest level, with the highest mean in the knowledge transfer from instructors (mean = 4.94), followed by the suitability of the venue (mean = 4.90), and the format and process of training management, both scoring at the highest level (mean = 4.85)Furthermore, as a result of developing and designing a diverse and aesthetically pleasing product line of naturally dyed leaf-patterned fabric, the researchers have successfully undertaken the development and design of various products. These products include fabric bags, notebooks, lamps, teddy bears, pillowcases, dresses, clothing for both men and women and shoulder shawls. The leaf-patterned fabric products have been introduced and distributed at the textile museum of Naresuan University, located in Phitsanulok Province. Additionally, the products have been officially registered as One Tambon One Product (OTOP) items for Kamphaeng Phet Province.
