Abstract

This paper explores the key challenges and administrative responses in the educational landscape of Northeast Thailand (Isan). It highlights the region's unique context, shaped by socioeconomic disparities, cultural diversity, and migration patterns, which present significant challenges for educational institutions. Key issues discussed include resource limitations, teacher shortages, cultural and linguistic barriers, and student enrollment and retention difficulties. The paper also examines how decentralization policies, community involvement, technological integration, and professional development are being employed to address these challenges. Case studies from provinces like Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, and Nakhon Ratchasima illustrate both the successes and ongoing struggles in implementing these strategies. Furthermore, the paper outlines policy recommendations for improving funding, enhancing teacher recruitment and retention, fostering stronger school-community partnerships, and leveraging technology. The potential for scaling successful practices across the region and the importance of inclusive education are also discussed. The conclusion emphasizes that overcoming the challenges facing educational administration in Northeast Thailand requires innovative approaches, collaborative efforts, and sustained support from both local communities and government agencies.
