The Participation of of Sub-district and Village Headman in Democratic Government

The transformation of the roles of village headmen and subdistrict chiefs aligns with policies and concepts of political and administrative reform, aimed at establishing a foundation for democratic governance. It is recognized that for democracy at the national level to progress, achieve stability, and security, the influence of both elected and non-elected governments, as well as political ideas, values, beliefs, political culture, ideologies, governance systems, patronage, kinship, community culture, and traditions, affects the work of village headmen and subdistrict chiefs. These leaders can participate in governance through their roles, powers, and responsibilities in the following areas: 1) maintaining public order and governance, 2) involvement in criminal matters, 3) managing registration work, and 4) contributing to subdistrict development and promoting citizens' livelihoods.
