This paper explores the modern challenges facing traditional Buddhism in Thailand as the country navigates globalization and secularism. Historically, Buddhism has been integral to Thai identity, governance, and societal values, but in the contemporary era, the religion faces internal and external pressures. Globalization introduces materialism and individualism, while secularization results in declining participation, especially among younger generations. Internal issues, such as corruption within the Sangha and the commercialization of Buddhist practices, further complicate the religion's relevance. This paper examines how Thai Buddhism is adapting to these challenges through modern movements, the integration of technology in religious practice, and the revitalization of monastic education. The study also addresses the crucial role of youth in preserving and modernizing Buddhism for future generations. Ultimately, the paper argues that Thai Buddhism must balance tradition and innovation to maintain its cultural and spiritual significance in a changing world.
